Have you ever had a million things in your fridge and you had no idea what to do with it?

I've got a solution for you... Hot Pot

Yes... hot POT!!

I guess the best way to describe it is that it is a pot with boiling water or soup (clear) and you throw vegetables, meat, tofu, seafood, any type of food that you would normally cook in water. I find that it is a super easy way and relatively healthy way to get rid of any of the food that you need cooked immediately.  It is best enjoyed with FRIENDS/FAMILY.

The traditional way is to layout all the food in front of you and have a little stove on the middle of the table with a pot of boiling water/soup.  I think it is amazing in the winter to have this nice warm treat.  Normally, we would have a table full of food (similar to the picture up top) and one pot in the middle.  You wouldn't ever actually end up sitting because you would just stand around the table trying to make sure nobody steals the piece of nice fatty beef you put in.

But... as the university life permits, sometimes you just got to be creative.  We improvised a bit and just put a huge stockpot on our stove and cooked everything on the stove and served it in bowls.

We put fish tofu , daikon, chinese vegetables, and enoki all in a nice beef stock.

Have you tried this before?  What's your favourite thing to put in a hot pot?

Thoughtfully yours,

C.C. :)
